DESCRIPTION

Camilla has been selected for the MMCA Korea Residency 2024, and today we’re excited to share the images of the catalogue, freshly arrived from Seoul.
What an emotion to see my words translated into Korean.

Inside, you’ll also find my critical contribution:
“The Artist as Gatherer: Familiarization of Soil within the research of Camilla Alberti.”

Here an excerpt from the text:
“If gathering is a collective moment, so too does Camilla’s sculptural universe generate serial creatures, expanded kinships that evolve each time into new, unique beings, always part of the same family. The artist-as-gatherer shapes families of golems that, through a slow and continuous rhythm, keep transforming into ever-new combinations of soil-born elements and colorations that allude to the cosmos.”

MMCA – National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea is one of the major reference points for contemporary art in Asia and beyond.
It also runs the MMCA Residency, an international program that supports artists from around the world by offering them time, space, and meaningful exchange right in the heart of Seoul.
