DESCRIPTION

For the fourth edition of Una Boccata d’Arte, I curated La Montagna è Ancora in Movimento - كرحتي ُلبجلا ُلازي ال  a project by the Palestinian artist and architect Raghad Saqfalhai, that listened to the stories of the inhabitants of Travo, as well as the millennia-old geological history of the territory.

This new phase of the long-term project The Geography of Craft which commenced in Jerusalem in 2021, merges the tangible landscape flowing beneath our feet with the symbolic landscape of popular imagination.

Utilising local archives and conducting a series of interviews the artist created a video as an emotional mapping of the inhabitants of Travo, based on the belief that landscape and community are symbiotic organisms. The sculptural series was dispersed throughout the territory of Travo, with the aim of questioning the concept of a village, which transcends the boundaries of the historic centre and extends into neighbouring areas, often forgotten but essential to the material and symbolic economy of the inhabitants. The artist thus provided the community of Travo with an artist's path – a physical and mental journey to discover the artworks in the territory and an aesthetic device for the reappropriation of spaces and time dedicated solely to listening and presence.
