Art Curator and Researcher – Mediterranean, Ukraine, Participatory Practices  

    Curatorial research, PhD practice and contemporary art  

    Sofia Baldi Pighi is an art curator and researcher working at the intersection    of contemporary art, curatorial studies and research-based practice. Her work    is grounded in a PhD research trajectory focused on the Mediterranean as a    political, cultural and ecological space, with particular attention to    migration, conflict, and postcolonial geographies.  

    Her curatorial practice combines exhibitions, public programs and long-term    research projects, addressing themes such as the war in Ukraine, collective    memory, territorial transformation and artistic practices as forms of civic    engagement. Art is approached as a critical tool for understanding power,    resistance and solidarity.  

    Alongside international biennales and institutional exhibitions, her research    is developed through participatory and site-specific projects such as    Una Boccata d’Arte, which functions as a distributed platform connecting    contemporary art with local communities and cultural landscapes across Italy.
