COLLATERAL

DESCRIPTION

The project began in September 2015 when researcher and artist g. olmo stuppia conceived Radioborcia as an experiential and auditory artwork using a radio device. To "broadcast" the contemporary soundscape, the artist created a narrative blending utopian and dystopian elements, incorporating sounds of rustling trees, creaking noises, interviews with the residents of Borca di Cadore and philosophical readings.

Radioborcia became possible through the artist's residency at Il Laboratorio d'Arte Visiva in Ambiente - Environment progettoborca, a regeneration platform launched by Dolomiti Contemporanee in 2014 at the former Villaggio Eni, in Borca di Cadore. In the 1950s and 1960s, Enrico Mattei envisioned and developed this impressive and complex site, with architect Edoardo Gellner executing his vision through meticulous urban and architectural design, including detailed furnishings.

This remarkable site, enhanced by contributions from Carlo Scarpa (notably the Church of Nostra Signora del Cadore), represents a unique fusion in Italy of substantial landscape elements and organic architecture, now gradually being reclaimed by the forest. Since 2011, Dolomiti Contemporanee has implemented an innovative cultural initiative at the former Eni Village in Borca di Cadore, aimed at revitalizing high-potential sites within the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The project is supported by site owners Minoter-Cualbu Group.
